Description
A simple, comforting homemade cinnamon maple latte that captures the essence of autumn. This recipe uses pantry staples like maple syrup and real cinnamon to create a rich, frothy drink without needing fancy equipment.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (240ml) strong brewed coffee (dark roast recommended)
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk (or oat/almond milk for dairy-free)
- 1–2 tablespoons pure maple syrup (Grade A or B)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Optional: Pinch of cinnamon for dusting, whipped cream, vanilla extract
Instructions
- Brew a strong cup of coffee (about 1 cup) and pour it into a large mug.
- Pour the milk into a small saucepan and heat over medium-low heat until steaming (do not boil). This takes about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove milk from heat and froth using a handheld frother for 15-20 seconds, or shake vigorously in a jar and microwave for 30 seconds to stabilize foam.
- In a small bowl, mix the maple syrup and cinnamon to form a paste.
- Pour the syrup-cinnamon mixture into the hot coffee and stir well to dissolve.
- Pour the frothed milk over the coffee, holding a spoon to catch the foam initially, then top with remaining foam.
- Dust with extra cinnamon or add whipped cream if desired.
Notes
Do not boil the milk as it destroys proteins needed for foam and alters the taste. Use real maple syrup, not pancake syrup, for authentic flavor. Mix cinnamon with syrup first to prevent clumping. For an iced version, froth cold milk and pour over ice.
