Description
A creamy, dairy-free smoothie made with frozen strawberries, banana, and almond butter that provides steady energy without a sugar crash. It is thick, kid-approved, and ready in just five minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups frozen strawberries
- 1 large ripe banana (frozen)
- 2 tablespoons almond butter
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
- 1 handful fresh spinach (optional)
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds (optional)
Instructions
- If using fresh fruit, peel and chunk the banana and freeze for at least 2 hours. Wash and freeze strawberries.
- Pour the almond milk into the blender first to help the blades spin freely.
- Add the frozen strawberries, frozen banana chunks, almond butter, vanilla extract, and any optional add-ins (spinach, chia seeds).
- Blend on low speed, then ramp up to high. Blend for 45-60 seconds until completely smooth.
- If the mixture is too thick, add more almond milk one tablespoon at a time. If too thin, add more frozen fruit.
- Taste and adjust sweetness with honey if needed.
- Pour into a travel mug or glass and serve immediately.
Notes
Use a ripe, spotted banana for maximum sweetness and creaminess. If your almond butter is hard, let it sit at room temperature or microwave briefly to soften. Do not freeze the blended smoothie as the texture will suffer; instead, freeze the fruit portions for make-ahead prep.
