Fall Brown Sugar Pumpkin Spice Latte: Easy 5-Min Drink

  • Author: Natalia
  • Total Time: 5-7 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A rich, homemade pumpkin spice latte made with real pumpkin puree and brown sugar. It tastes like authentic autumn, takes only 5 minutes to prepare, and offers better flavor and control over sweetness than coffee shop versions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (120g) 100% pure pumpkin puree
  • 2 tablespoons (30g) brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon spice blend (1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp ginger, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1/8 tsp cloves) OR 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk (whole, 2%, oat, or almond)
  • 12 shots (24 oz) espresso or strong coffee
  • Whipped cream (optional, for garnish)
  • Cinnamon stick (optional, for garnish)
  • Extra pumpkin spice (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, whisk together the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, heavy cream, and spice blend until a smooth, thick paste forms with no lumps.
  2. Slowly pour in the milk while whisking constantly over medium-low heat. Do not let the mixture boil. Stir frequently for 3-4 minutes until hot and fully combined.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat. Froth the pumpkin milk mixture using a handheld frother or by pumping a French press vigorously for 30 seconds until foamy.
  4. While the milk is warming, brew the espresso or strong coffee.
  5. Pour the hot espresso into a mug. Slowly pour the frothed pumpkin milk over the coffee, holding back the foam with a spoon.
  6. Spoon the remaining foam on top. Garnish with whipped cream, a cinnamon stick, and a pinch of pumpkin spice. Serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure you use 100% pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling, to avoid excessive sweetness. Keep heat on medium-low to prevent scorching the milk. If lumps persist, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve. The pumpkin milk base can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days, but the finished latte is best made fresh.
