Description
These fall maple brown butter blondies are a cozy, sweet treat with nutty brown butter and real maple syrup, delivering a chewy, gooey texture perfect for autumn.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter
- 1 ½ cups packed (300g) light brown sugar
- ¼ cup (60ml) pure maple syrup
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Optional add-ins: ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (toasted), ½ cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips, ½ cup dried cranberries
Instructions
- Brown the butter: Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, swirling gently. When it foams and turns golden tan with brown specks and smells nutty, remove from heat immediately. Pour into a large bowl and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Mix wet ingredients: Add brown sugar and maple syrup to the browned butter and whisk until smooth. Whisk in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract until batter is glossy and thick.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Fold dry into wet: Gently fold dry ingredients into wet using a rubber spatula until just combined. Fold in any optional add-ins now.
- Bake: Pour batter into a parchment-lined 8×8-inch baking pan and smooth the top. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
- Cool and serve: Let blondies cool completely on a wire rack, then lift out using parchment and cut into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Watch the butter closely when browning to avoid burning. Use real maple syrup for best flavor. Don’t overmix the batter to keep blondies tender. Line pan with parchment for easy removal. Let blondies cool fully before cutting. Optional: add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra fall warmth.
