High-Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

  • Author: Natalia
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A thick, rich, and creamy smoothie that tastes like a milkshake but is packed with 35 grams of protein. This quick, pantry-friendly breakfast keeps you full for hours and is easy to customize.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large ripe banana (frozen, about 120g)
  • 1 cup milk (unsweetened almond, oat, or dairy)
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (about 30g)
  • 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes (optional, if using fresh banana)

Instructions

  1. Prep the frozen banana by letting it sit for 5 minutes if still in the peel, then break it into 3-4 chunks.
  2. Pour the milk into the blender first to help the blades spin freely.
  3. Add the protein powder, cocoa powder (if using), chia seeds, and sweetener (if using) to the liquid.
  4. Add the peanut butter; microwave for 10 seconds if it is stiff to help it blend.
  5. Toss in the frozen banana chunks and ice cubes (if using).
  6. Blend on low speed, gradually increasing to high, for 30-60 seconds until completely smooth.
  7. Taste and adjust consistency or sweetness by adding more milk, ice, or sweetener as needed.
  8. Pour into a glass and serve immediately.

Notes

For the best texture and sweetness, use a very ripe banana with brown spots. If using fresh banana, add extra ice. Peanut butter can stick to the sides; stop the blender to scrape down if necessary. This smoothie is best consumed fresh but can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
