Description
A creamy, caffeine-free, and anti-inflammatory golden milk latte made with coconut milk and warming spices. Ready in just 5 minutes, this vegan-friendly drink provides steady energy without the coffee crash.
Ingredients
- 1 can (13.5 oz / 400ml) full-fat coconut milk
- 1–2 teaspoons turmeric powder
- 1-inch piece fresh ginger, grated
- ¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
- 1–2 tablespoons maple syrup
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Peel and finely grate 1-inch piece of fresh ginger.
- Pour the full can of coconut milk into a small saucepan.
- Add turmeric powder, grated ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, and maple syrup to the cold milk.
- Whisk ingredients together thoroughly to prevent clumps.
- Place saucepan over medium-low heat and stir constantly.
- Heat until the mixture is hot and steaming (3-4 minutes), but do not let it boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or spice if desired.
- Froth with a handheld frother or pour between mugs for foam.
- Serve immediately in a mug, optionally topped with a pinch of cinnamon or turmeric.
Notes
Do not boil the coconut milk as it can separate and taste burnt. Keep heat on low-medium and stir constantly. Black pepper is essential to boost turmeric absorption. For a ‘golden paste’ shortcut, mix turmeric, water, pepper, and coconut oil, simmer until thick, and store in the fridge. Reheat gently; do not microwave in high bursts.
